The Transformative Power of Symbol and Ritual
“We desperately need healing for groups, institutions, marriages, the wounds of war, violence, racism, and the endless social problems in which we are drowning today. But we won’t know how to heal if we don’t learn the skills at ground zero: the individual human heart.”
– Fr. Richard Rohr
“I lost my father a few weeks ago. I never made the connection between the funeral liturgy and baptism in the way I do tonight. I will be reflecting on this for a long time.”
“The movement of the Book of the Dead, the incense throughout the church, along with the singing of the Litany of Saints took my breath away. You could feel the presence of all of our loved ones surrounding us in that moment! “
“Ritual involves the whole body experience and invites us to move beyond words and thinking about the symbols. We are not observers, we actually become part of the celebration.”
“I will never again have an oil change in my car without thinking about Confirmation!”
“She is like a fine mosaic. She knows how to put the pieces together to create something beautiful.”
